Short Summary
Introduction to the course. The basics of botanical systematics and the structure and form of plants. Identification of collected plants to species, work with the Small Flora of Slovenia, herbarization. Wild plant nutrition in everyday life. The most important spring, summer and autumn edible species. General guidelines for collecting, drying, storing and using medicinal plants. Our medicinal wild plants: active ingredients and uses (home pharmacy). Preparation and tasting of different teas. Practical part - making preparations (tincture, oil, ointment, cosmetic preparations). A field collecting excursion to learn about edible, medicinal and poisonous plants for course participants and their family members at Lake Cerknica. Wild lunch in nature. First aid for plant poisoning. Completion of the course and awarding of certificates of completion.
